Day 1: The Burren and Cliff of Moher                     

 

Arrive at Shannon Airport.

Depart for Galway and travel to the spectacular Cliffs of  Moher, which form a 200mt wall that plunges into the Atlantic Ocean.  Continue through the heart of County Clare - the Burren Region. The Burren is a strange and unique region in Europe. “Burren” means “large stones”: in fact its name describes this impressive scenery perfectly well. You will also discover the testimonies of the Burren’s rich history thanks to countless castles and monastic ruins.

Day 2:  Connemara

 

The country of the “Quiet Man” and “The Purple Taxi” - it is an area full of contrast, granite mountains populated only by sheep with hundreds of lakes forming a fisherman’s paradise and its sea coast with many sandy beaches.The route takes you from Galway to the lake dotted centre of Connemara at Maam Cross. En route, you will discover the beauty of Kylemore Abbey. Impressive, hidden between mountains and lake and surrounded by rhododendrons, the abbey is situated in a romantic place of great beauty.

Day 3: To the East

 

Depart Galway for Dublin via Clonmacnoise,

Situated in the wilds, on the banks of the Shannon, sixth century Clonmacnoise is nowadays partly in ruins. Visit the Visitor Centre where the original Celtic crosses are exhibited, followed by a tour of the site where you will see high towers, the eleventh century cathedral and the wonderful reproductions of the High Crosses.Continue to Dublin.

Day 4: Dublin

 

Today, discover Dublin’s Fair City. You can visit the famous “Doors of Dublin,” the elegant Georgian squares, the Phoenix Park. Well worth will be a visit to Trinity College,the oldest University in Ireland founded in 1592 by Elizabeth 1st. The ninth Century Book of Kells,famous for its precious illuminations,is exhibited here.Then St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the largest Anglican cathedral built in 1213 followed by a visit to the Guinness Storehouse, Europe’s largest stout producing brewery.

Day 5: Wicklow – The Garden of Ireland  

 

A few miles south of Dublin lies the county of Wicklow, popularly known as "The Garden of Ireland".  It is said to be a microcosm of all landscapes and colours of Ireland. Visit  Mount Usher Gardens and in Avoca the old Woollen Mills where local craftsmen weave their quality cloth to produce colourful blankets, rugs and tweeds.

Day 6:  WaterfordBlarney

 

This morning, visit the Waterford Crystal Factory, founded in 1783, is the most visited attraction in the county.  Visitors are guided through the different stages of production have the opportunity to see glassblowers at work and buy some  world famous Waterford Crystal .

Then en route to Kerry,visit Blarney Castle and stop at Blarney Woollen Mills, one of the finest family owned craft centres in the world offering a wide range of genuine Irish products. Blarney Castle, where you will feel compelled to kiss the Blarney Stone and gain the gift of eloquence .The castle itself, a tower house, dates from 1446 and is built on solid limestone.

Day 7: Ring of Kerry

 

Today, a superb tour of the Ivreagh Peninsula will give you the opportunity to discover the Ring of Kerry. Taking in spectacular scenery - mountains, peat bogs, lakes and magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean as one travel along the coast road Leaving Killarney behind, drive through Killorglin, famous for its Puck Fair, then to Glenbeigh where the cliff road gives panoramic views of the Dingle Peninsula and Dingle Bay. Continuing to Cahirciveen the birthplace of National hero Daniel O’Connell. Visit Muckross House, a nineteenth century country residence with folk museum, the gardens at the rear are famous for their superb rhododendrons.

Day 8: Slan / Farewell

 

After a final full Irish breakfast, departure for Shannon Airport for the return flight.
